Why Round LED Displays Are Taking Over the Future of Visual Design

May 24, 2025

Why do I think round LED display screens are the trend of future visual design
I’ve always been drawn to symmetry. Maybe it’s the sense of wholeness, maybe it’s the way circles feel infinite—soft, safe, somehow comforting. The moment I saw the round LED display screen lit up in a gallery in the city center for the first time, I knew that it was no ordinary screen; it was a brand-new visual language.

How did I embark on the path of round design
So, how did I end up exploring round design? I’ve been working on visual installations for nearly a decade now. To be honest, my previous impression of LED display screens was that they were square, uniform and highly functional. But everything happened when a certain customer came in and asked me, “Can we do something…” Not so square? That changed everything. It didn’t sound radical at all, but that sentence completely overturned my original way of thinking.

The experience I have summarized in real projects
Some things, no one will tell you in advance:

You have to rethink your entire content layout from scratch. The traditional four-corner layout is not applicable in a circle. One must start thinking completely from the “center of the circle”.

Installation is crucial. round LED display screens are not standardized products. Their structural installation must be more rigorous, and the balance between visual and physical aspects should be taken into consideration.

It is memorable. According to my own observation, the visual memory brought by round screens is much deeper than that of ordinary screens. In exhibitions, shopping malls and brand events, visitors’ stay time is significantly longer.

It’s not a gimmick; it’s a solution
I have to emphasize: This isn’t just a design gimmick—it’s often the best solution. The round LED display screen does not exist for the sake of being “cool”; it indeed solves the design problem. Especially in scenarios such as round buildings, domes, columns, and round courtyards, it fits better than rectangles. Even in the shaping of brand visuals, it can express continuity and consistency.

Quality determines effect
But quality matters. And not all round LED displays are created equal. I have also fallen into quite a few traps. Low resolution, flicker and poor refresh rate are all very common. So now I only collaborate with those technical teams that truly understand “creative freedom”, such as professional brands like visualpower. They know that the realization of creativity is predicated on reliable hardware. Only when the screen brightness is as high as 1200 nits and the refresh rate is close to 3840Hz can your content truly come alive.
